ABOUT

I have always been fascinated by the stories people leave behind: the ones preserved in old photographs, family papers, newspaper archives, cemetery records, and the memories shared across generations.

Long before The Heart of a Story existed, I found myself drawn to genealogy and historical research as a way to better understand the people who came before me. What began as a personal search for family connections eventually grew into something much larger: a deep appreciation for the lives, sacrifices, traditions, and experiences that shape families and communities over time.

Growing up with strong Louisiana roots gave me an appreciation for Southern heritage, storytelling, faith, resilience, and the importance of preserving family history before it disappears. The stories that shape families and communities are rarely the ones printed in history books. More often, they are found in small-town newspapers, family cemeteries, handwritten letters, front porch conversations, and the everyday lives of ordinary people.

Over the years, my writing and research have centered around genealogy, regional history, veterans, healthcare, human-interest features, and the journeys that often go unnoticed by the outside world. Whether uncovering forgotten newspaper accounts, documenting family histories, or preserving memories that might otherwise fade with time, my goal has always remained the same: to honor the people behind the stories.

The Heart of a Story was created as a place to preserve those stories, celebrate the lives behind them, and remind us that every life leaves a lasting imprint on the generations that follow.
